The Shefa Fund was founded in 2013 with the belief that collaboration can yield extraordinary results. The Shefa Fund has proven that streamlined, collective giving can benefit both the donor and the grantees doing the critical work on the ground.

Our Founders

Khaled Juffali

Co-founder & Board Chair, Shefa Fund

Khaled Juffali is the Chairman of the Board of Directors of E.A. Juffali & Brothers, Saudi Arabia’s largest commercial enterprise. The company works in the automotive, technology, construction, and chemical sectors. Outside of his business pursuits, Khaled is an active philanthropist and Honorary Consul of Switzerland in Jeddah. He is a Trustee Member of the King Salman Center for Disability Research and the United States National Symphony Orchestra, and a Board Member of the Saudi Arabia Monetary Agency, the World Wide Fund’s Nature Trust, and the Saudi Arabian Business Council. He earned a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from the University of San Diego and was later awarded an Honorary Doctorate in Business Administration from Menlo College, San Francisco.

Olfat Al-Mutlaq Juffali

Co-founder & Board Member, Shefa Fund

Olfat Al-Mutlaq Juffali is a dedicated philanthropist who is passionate about initiatives that benefit the Arab region and that support the well-being, health, education, and creativity of the next generation. Among her philanthropic engagements, Olfat is a Member of the Board of Trustees for the Arab Thought Foundation and the Al-Elm Foundation of Dar Al-Hekma College. She joined the Board of Trustees for the Arab Fund for Arts and Culture in 2013 and is the Chairperson of the British International School of Jeddah. She earned a bachelor’s degree in Economics and a master’s degree in International Development from the American University of Washington. The Juffalis have four children.

Dana Juffali

Board Member, Shefa Fund

Dana is currently the Director of Business Development at Khaled Juffali Holding Co. and a Board Member at E.A. Juffali & Brothers, Saudi Enaya Health Insurance, and the Help Center. Dana previously held managerial positions at Siemens AG in Germany and Saudi Arabia in Human Resources and Supply Chain Management. She earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of Southern California and a master’s degree from Steinbeis-Hochschule Berlin. Dana is fluent in English, Arabic, German, and French.

Jennifer Alcorn

Deputy Director, Philanthropic Partnerships, Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation

Jennifer has spent over a decade with the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation working across its global advocacy and philanthropy portfolios. In her current role, she manages a team that works directly with philanthropists to support their giving across a range of must-solve issues.rnrnSince 2008, Jennifer and her team have mobilized over $1.4 billion in new resources for under-funded programs across global health and development. Jennifer developed and operates the Polio Eradication Fund, a $625 million fund comprised of purely philanthropic dollars aimed at filling critical funding gaps within the global polio program.rnrnJennifer also leads Gates Philanthropy Partners, a public charity created by Bill and Melinda Gates to be an efficient and effective pathway for donors of any size to give alongside the Gates Foundation and leverage its program and operational expertise. Since its founding in 2016, GPP has co-funded more than $25 million alongside the Gates Foundation.rnrnJennifer graduated summa cum laude from Ursuline College with a dual degree in History and Historic Preservation. She lives in Seattle with her husband, a curator at Paul Allen’s Living Computers + Museum, her Lego-obsessed son, and two greyhounds.
